Seneca Valley fills two principal positions
The Seneca Valley board of education filled two principal positions at its meeting tonight.
Marie Palano of Cranberry Township was named assistant principal at the Seneca Valley Middle School. She replaces Andrea Peck who was named principal at the middle school earlier this year. Ms. Palano begins on Nov. 27.
Ms. Palano is the world language department chairwoman and has been teaching seventh and eighth grade Spanish at the school for nearly 10 years. She has also served on the district's multicultural committee, health and wellness committee and new world language curriculum writing committee for Spanish and French. She will be paid $73,500 annually in this new position.
Nannette Farmer of Gibsonia was named acting principal at Rowan Elementary School in Cranberry Township. She will replace John Giancola, who is leaving on Dec. 3 to take a job with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
Ms. Farmer has been serving as assistant principal at Rowan and Connoquenessing Valley Elementary schools for the past five years. She is also coordinator of the Seneca Valley Title I Reading Program. She will be paid a $1,000 per month stipend until a permanent replacement is named.
