A man doused the mother of his 3-month-old daughter in perfume and set her on fire with a cigarette lighter Thursday morning, Allegheny County police said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Clinton C. Cohen, 27, charging him with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, arson, reckless endangerment and other crimes.

County police described Mr. Cohen as a black male, 6-foot-1, with black hair and brown eyes. He spends time in Sharpsburg, Wilkinsburg and Kittanning and should be considered dangerous, county police Lt. Jeffrey Korczyk said.

Maria Redman, 22, of Springdale Borough suffered burns to her head and torso that cover a third of her body, Lt. Korczyk said.

She suffered the injuries about 6:45 a.m. in her Pittsburgh Street home, Lt. Korczyk said. Their daughter was in the room when Ms. Redman was set ablaze and had her mother's blood on her, Lt. Korczyk said.

The girl was unharmed, he said, and is in the custody of Ms. Redman's parents. CYF has been notified, the lieutenant said.

Ms. Redman was taken to West Penn Hospital, where she was is in critical but stable condition Thursday afternoon, Lt. Korczyk said.

"She has a long battle ahead of her," he said.
