Peck named principal of Seneca Valley Middle School

Andrea Peck was named principal of the Seneca Valley Middle School by the school board tonight.
Ms. Peck of Adams Township has been serving as acting principal of the school for the last few months after the last principal, Sean McCarty, was promoted to assistant superintendent of kindergarten through sixth grade instruction.
Ms. Peck has been the assistant principal at the middle school since 2007.
Seneca Valley Spokeswoman Linda Andreassi said Ms. Peck was one of 19 people to apply for the position. She will be paid $98,000 per year, according to Ms. Andreassi.
Ms. Andreassi said the district now will begin the process of searching for a new assistant principal at the middle school.
Ms. Peck received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from LaRoche College in 2000, a master's degree in teaching from Chatham College in 2003, her K-12 administrative certificate from Slippery Rock University in 2005, her superintendent's letter of eligibility from California University of Pennsylvania in 2010 and is now working on her doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh.
The Seneca Valley Middle School was recently named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. It was only one of eight in the state to receive the honor and the only one in Western Pennsylvania.
Seneca Valley Middle School was chosen for its "exemplary high performance," a designation that means it's among the state's highest-performing schools.
