The Parkway North HOV lanes will be closed overnight through early May to allow crews to repair bridges, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

The closures will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. weekdays, except that the lanes will remain open when there are Pirates or Penguins games or other big events Downtown. The lanes will be open inbound as usual during the morning rush (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and outbound for the evening rush (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.) with the two-occupant requirement.

A separate project, installation of an overhead message sign near the Hazlett Street interchange, will close the HOV lanes Friday night to about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

On most weekends, the HOV lanes will be open to outbound traffic without occupancy restrictions, as is usual, but some additional weekend closures will occur later in the season for bridge work, the department said.
