Pine -- Pine Township Community Day will be held from 4 p.m. until dusk Saturday at Pine Community Park. Community Day features food, games and prizes, a fireworks display by Pyrotecnico and entertainment by Nomad Band. Community day is sponsored by the Township of Pine and the Pine's Giant Eagle Market District.
Cabot -- Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host its 131st Summer Festival from noon to 6 p.m. July 29 in the Lund Care Center backyard, 134 Marwood Road. Information: 724-352-1571, ext. 8266, or www.concordialm.org.
North Park -- The SSG Edward F. Greiner Jr. Memorial 5K walk/run will be held at 9 a.m. July 29 at the North Park Boathouse, Pearce Mill Road. Proceeds benefit The Yellow Ribbon Girls and The Vietnam Veterans of America for monthly care packages sent to servicemen and women overseas. Information/registration: www.eddie5kwalk.com. Staff Sgt. Greiner died in a motorcycle accident in March.
Natrona Heights -- The second annual Mary Mele Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Natrona Recreational Park on River Avenue. Proceeds benefit the Highlands Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. The tournament is a 5-on-5 game with 10 people permitted on each team. Players must be 14 years and older. Fee is $5 per person. Disc jockey C.O. Williams will provide music. Food, ticket auction, 50/50 raffles and games for the kids will also be available. Registration: Bob Schrecengost at 724-351-2226.
Butler -- A golf outing will be held from noon to 5:30 p.m. July 30, at Conley Resort, 740 Pittsburgh Road, to benefit the Joanne Pikur Scholarship Fund. One scholarship from the fund will be awarded annually to a graduating Hampton senior. Information/registration: www.ht-sd.org.
Richland -- Northern Tier Regional Library, 4015 Dickey Road, will hold the following programs:
• Summer in the South of France wine tasting at 7 p.m. July 27. John Eld will introduce five wines from this region, ranging from full-bodied reds, to roses to cool, crisp whites. This event is open to patrons ages 21 and older. Advance registration is required, and a fee of $15 will be charged. Information/registration: 724-449-2665.
• Make a Wish art sale, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., next Thursday; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28. Some of the artwork will be created during Summer Reading Club programs, but donations of artwork from patrons also will be accepted. All media and ages are welcome, and donations must be of appropriate subject matter. Submissions will be accepted through Tuesday. Submit a slip with the artist's name, phone number/email and suggested sale price. If the artwork is not sold, it will be returned to the artist. Proceeds benefit the Make a Wish Foundation.
