Hampton schools
The Hampton Alliance for Educational Excellence, a nonprofit organization that funds educational enrichment programs in the district, authorized more than $6,000 in grants to fund the following projects:
$750 to support Healthy Communities/Healthy Youth Asset Building workshops to James Pearson, dean of students at Hampton High School;
$2,493 to buy a digital piano and dolly to Ted Cramer, instrumental music teacher at Hampton Middle School;
$2,350 for the One School: One Book program to Wyland Elementary School gifted support teacher Anna DeForest;
$700 for the Math is a Walk in the Park project to Mary Schneider, fifth-grade teacher at Wyland Elementary School.
North Allegheny
The school board has named Kevin R. Deitrick assistant principal at Ingomar Middle School.
His annual salary will be $76,000.
For the past six years, Deitrick has worked in the Upper St. Clair School District as assistant principal of Fort Couch Middle School, a social studies teacher and a coach.
Deitrick holds a bachelor's of arts degree in history and education from Washington and Jefferson College and a master's in history education and a doctorate in instructional leadership from Duquesne University. He is certified in social studies and as a kindergarten through 12th-grade principal.
Quaker Valley
Prospective kindergarten pupils for 2005-06 and their parents are invited to attend the kindergarten roundup by appointment March 1 through March 4 at Osbourne Elementary School, 1414 Beaver St.
Appointments, which last about 30 minutes, can be made for any time between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, an register the day of the appointment. Child and parent will meet with guidance counselors, librarians and others; teachers will screen pupils for preliminary readiness.
