North Allegheny High School senior Dan Ostronic recently won the gold medal in sheet metal production at the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Championships and will represent Pennsylvania at the National Championships.

• Seneca Valley High School sophomore Emily Clark, has been chosen as the junior representative to the Pennsylvania State Board of Education.

She will spend the 2012-13 school year representing 1.8 million Pennsylvania students as a board member in a non-voting capacity. Also, Emily will chair a student summit on educational issues facing Pennsylvania students on the house floor of the state Capitol in February 2013.

• Three Fox Chapel Area High School students were recently named national winners in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Junior Lauren Valley and sophomore Tess Lalor received Silver Medals for their artwork and freshman Rishi Mirchandani received a Silver Medal for his written story.
