Shaler and Hampton police are investigating after three North Hills restaurants were burglarized early this morning.

Police believe the burglaries at China Bistro and Spadafora's Bar and Restaurant in Hampton and Casey's Family Restaurant in Shaler are related, Hampton police Detective Robert Kirsopp said.

Cash was stolen from registers at all three restaurants within four miles of each other along Route 8, between 2 and 4:30 a.m.

Based on evidence found at the scene, police are looking for two people who they say forced their way in through the back door of the three businesses.

Detective Kirsopp declined to discuss specific evidence police discovered but said investigators are using surveillance video found at one of the restaurants.

Two of the three businesses had security systems, and one in Hampton was activated during the burglary.

Police responded to the first burglary about 3:30 a.m., Detective Kirsopp said.

Spadafora's was burglarized about a month ago, but police arrested a suspect who remains in jail, Detective Kirsopp said.
