Despite his family's suspicions, an autopsy of a 12-year-old boy found dead in the Shenango River in Mercer County showed no signs of foul play, the Sharon police chief said Monday morning.

The chief, Michael Menster, said the county coroner had determined the cause of death drowning.

On Saturday, the family of the boy, Mark Goodrich Jr., told WYTV 33 that they suspected, based on the account of another child, that other children had beaten Goodrich and thrown him into the river.

The coroner found no bruising or other signs of trauma on the boy, Southwest Mercer County Regional police Capt. Doug Long said.
