After trying to run over his girlfriend and ex-girlfriend with a stolen Ford Ranger on Tuesday night, Gary Jones Jr. of New Castle evaded a police chase for roughly 45 minutes before his arrest off Route 65, according to a criminal complaint.

According to the complaint New Castle police Officer Anthony Mangino filed, Mr. Jones, 29, had gotten mad at his girlfriend, Kimberly Kerr, for talking to ex-girlfriend Kayla Perschka and tried to hit both of them with his vehicle at 10:53 p.m. He rammed into Ms. Kerr's car three or four times and chased her and her two daughters down a back alley before leaving the lot at 16 W. Long Ave., according to the complaint.

Police began their pursuit at Arlington Avenue and Long Avenue and chased Mr. Jones for nearly an hour through Taylor and Ellwood City before he stopped at 262 Village Drive, according to the complaint.

Police shocked Mr. Jones with a Taser twice during the arrest, according to the complaint, once because he refused to leave the truck and once because he refused to be handcuffed.

Mr. Jones has been charged with counts of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, theft, reckless endangerment, driving under suspension and resisting arrest, among other charges.

The stolen silver pickup belongs to John Salzano, 55, also of New Castle.
