Two men died in separate motorcycle crashes in Butler County over the weekend.

Russell Barger, 50, of Butler, died Saturday of injuries suffered when his cycle collided with a car at the intersection of Winfield and North Pike roads in Winfield.

State troopers said a car traveling south on North Pike just before 6 p.m. turned left at the intersection and into the path of Mr. Barger's motorcycle. He and his wife, Kathleen Barger, were thrown to the road.

Mr. Barger was pronounced dead at Butler Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Barger was treated for moderate injuries. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, police said.

In a second crash early Sunday in Clay, Benjamin T. Brown, 29, of Butler was killed when he crashed his motorcycle on Route 138.

Troopers said he was riding east shortly before 2 a.m. when he lost control on a curve and hit a tree.

Police said he wasn't wearing a helmet.
