Mars Area Superintendent Pettigrew to retire

Mars Area School District Superintendent William G. Pettigrew will retire next year.

The school board today accepted Mr. Pettigrew's retirement "on or before" Dec. 1, 2013. He has said he will leave earlier if the state changes the pension system.

He has been the Mars Area superintendent for 25 years.
