Mars Area recalls guidance counselor from furlough

One of two guidance counselors furloughed last year in the Mars Area School District is being brought back.
The school board Tuesday approved recalling Lesley Kennedy from furlough.
Cutting the counselors, one of several moves made last year to balance the budget without a tax increase, was criticized by parents at the time. The move left seven counselors in the district's five schools, with some counselors splitting their time between schools.
Recalling Ms. Kennedy brings the counseling staff to six.
