A Fox Chapel High School graduate told University of Vermont police that he served as the getaway driver for two school chums who tried to rip off a college drug dealer but were stabbed in the process, according to a police affidavit.

Joshua Mossburg, 19, the only one of the four people not to be injured in the Monday altercation on the Vermont campus, has been charged with robbery and assault. He is in jail on $50,000 bond.

University police said Mr. Mossburg, of Indiana Township, said that he had driven to Vermont with his two friends, one of whom is a freshman at the university.

The three binged on LSD and hallucinogenic mushrooms, and then the one who is a university student hatched a plan to rob the dealer of his LSD stock, Mr. Mossburg told police.

On Monday, Mr. Mossburg waited in his vehicle while his friends accosted the drug dealer, also a university student, the police affidavit said.

During the confrontation, the dealer was hit in the head with a rock but stabbed his assailants, according to police.

Both of Mr. Mossburg's friends remain hospitalized, and authorities may file charges against them.

Mr. Mossburg's mother, Lynn Mossburg, 58, of Indiana said her son -- who played lacrosse and sang in the school choir -- recently dropped out of Community College of Allegheny County and had gotten in with "the wrong crowd."
