Council President Victor Son announced during Wednesday night's regular meeting that the Hampton-Shaler Water Authority has entered into negotiations with the Borough of Etna to acquire their water system.

According to M. Richard Dunlap, Hampton-Shaler Water Authority board member, "The projection under negotiation is that it would be an asset acquired at no cost. We are currently in the discussion phase." He added that the deal would likely take place in the spring. "It would be a win-win for everyone, because water rates will probably go down as a result."
