Hampton man admits filing false tax returns for illegal aliens

A Hampton accountant who was set to go to trial today on charges of conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns instead pleaded guilty.
Martin R. Bujaky, 63, now faces a May 17 sentencing before U.S. District Judge Terrence F. McVerry.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton's office said in a press release that Mr. Bujaky conspired to harbor "out-of-status aliens employed in the hotel housekeeping industry in the Pittsburgh area, as well as Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati."
He helped to prepare returns for B&M Best Consulting Co. that understated that firm's payroll by $3 million, the release said. Over seven years, ending in 2007, the scheme cost the government $3.7 million in lost taxes, the release continued.
Mr. Bujaky's attorney could not be reached for immediate comment.
