Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said today that a grand jury will investigate an air duct collapse in Shaler Area Elementary School's cafeteria that injured eight students and four faculty members.

The large metal duct, suspended from the ceiling, came crashing down onto a table crowded with students at lunch time in April.

Mr. Zappala said he hopes the contractors will be held criminally responsible, saying the equipment they used to install the duct was "sub-standard."
