The Butler County coroner's office has identified the 15-year-old girl who died in a crash Wednesday night as Alexis McKinney.

"The entire South Butler County School District community is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Alexis McKinney, who would have entered 11th grade at Knoch High School in August," according to a South Butler County School District statement given to KDKA. "... Active in school activities, Alexis was a positive influence on friends, classmates and district staff."

The school district posted on its website that counselors will be available at Knoch High School today and Monday beginning at 9 a.m.

An SUV carrying Alexis and driven by a 17-year-old boy, who remains in a hospital, flipped around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night on Thompsontown Road in Clay.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:31 p.m., according to the Butler County coroner's office.
