A horse-drawn buggy collided with a car Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. in Wilmington, Lawrence County.

The buggy pulled from Beagle Club Road into the path of a car traveling east on State Route 208. Andy Byler, 21, of Volant, and a female, 17, also of Volant, were controlling the reins for the horse pulling the buggy, state police said.

Police reported that Mr. Byler and the buggy's other driver were under the influence of alcohol. Since both were in control of the buggy, each was arrested for DUI and taken to Jameson Hospital for a blood test.

They were both uninjured.

Patricia Kaufman, 49, of New Wilmington, the driver of the car, was uninjured, but her vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

The horse was injured but is expected to survive.
