The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has upheld a lower court ruling, rejecting a claim that an Erie-area congresswoman didn't have enough proper signatures on her nominating petitions.

The Supreme Court ruling means freshman U.S. Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper will remain on Tuesday's primary ballot.

Fellow Democrat Mel Marin claimed Ms. Dahlkemper didn't have the 1,000 signatures necessary to be on the ballot, but a Commonwealth Court judge rejected that challenge in March. The Supreme Court refused to overturn that ruling.

Mr. Marin is Ms. Dahlkemper's only challenger in the primary. Six Republicans are in the running to oppose her in November's general election.
