A car fire that erupted shortly before 8:30 a.m. blocked all northbound lanes of Interstate 79 near the Wexford interchange.

Southbound traffic also was backing up as motorists slowed to view the fire on the northbound right shoulder.

There was no immediate information available about injuries. The scene was cleared by shortly after 9 a.m.
