The bridge that carries Middle Road over the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Hampton will close next Monday for replacement, the turnpike commission announced today.

It is the second of six bridges over the toll road that will be demolished and replaced in advance of a $200 million project to widen and reconstruct eight miles in Hampton, Indiana Township and Harmar. A bridge on Route 910 near Blue Run Road in Indiana Township closed Feb. 11.

Middle Road traffic will be detoured via Wildwood Road, Route 8 and East Hardies Road, a distance of 5.2 miles. The project is expected to take nine months.
