A black bear was sighted Sunday near a swimming pool in North Park in McCandless.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission was called in about an hour after the first sighting about 6 p.m., Wildlife Conservation Officer Dan Puhala said. When he arrived, the county and McCandless police were already there.
By the time the Game Commission arrived, the bear was on the move. The bear was tracked following reports of sightings before it was cornered it in a backyard in Hampton.
A dart was used to sedate the bear -- kept overnight in a bear trap in Mr. Puhala's office.
While Mr. Puhala chased the bear, police got a half-dozen additional calls about bear sightings. No one was ever in immediate danger, Mr. Puhala said.
Mr. Puhala said his district has gotten about a half-dozen complaints about bears and that this is the third bear he has relocated in the past year.
Mr. Puhala transported the bear to be released in Indiana County.
