Cranberry officials are asking residents to take some minor precautions after a bear was spotted in the community last night.

Jeffrey Schueler, director of public safety, said the 180- to 200-pound bear was spotted about 8:30 p.m. around Executive Drive and then, about an hour later, in a tree in the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings Bar & Grill on Route 19. It remained there for about an hour and was later spotted heading toward Interstate 79, Mr. Schueler said.

He said bears are spotted fairly frequently in the area, maybe once or twice a year. He suggests that residents avoid leaving animal food and bird feeders outside because they attract bears.
