Woodland Hills School District may sell the building that houses its administrative offices and move the offices to the site of the former UPMC Braddock hospital.

The school board last Wednesday approved a nonbinding letter of intent that would permit the sale of its administrative building on Greensburg Pike in Churchill to Trek Development Group.

If the board goes through with the sale, the district would move its offices to Trek's planned redevelopment on the site of the former UPMC Braddock hospital.

The earliest the district would move the offices would be in the 2013-14 school year, acting superintendent Alan Johnson said.

Trek's president William Gatti Jr. said the company plans to start construction on the Braddock building in the spring of 2013, meaning the district could move its administrative offices to Braddock in spring 2014.

If Trek acquires the district's administrative building, Mr. Gatti said, it would be razed and replaced with some combination of residential, commercial and educational buildings, but he added that Trek is still "fleshing out the idea."

"That would be the result of a planning process with Churchill and the school board," he said. "There's a lot that has to be done, but we're very happy with the collaboration with the school board so far."

The school board has mulled several plans for the relocation or renovation of the administrative offices in the past, but none materialized.
