Wilkinsburg police are looking for the man they say robbed a Dollar General at gunpoint Wednesday night.
Detective Christopher Minton said a man entered the store at 700 Penn Ave. about 7:20 p.m. and acted as if he planned to purchase items.
"He made it look like he was going to cash out, and that's when he brandished the firearm," Detective Minton said.
The man showed the black, semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. He made off with about $170 and left the store on foot.
There was one store employee and one customer inside at the time, Detective Minton said.
Police would not say what items he had brought to the register.
Police described the man as a dark-skinned black male between 20 and 25 years old. He weighs between 200 and 220 pounds and was wearing a white hooded jacket with a brown hooded sweatshirt. He has facial hair and may have bandage on his left pinky.
Wilkinsburg police asked anyone with information about the case to call them at 412-244-2950.
