A Wilkinsburg man was sentenced to 28 to 56 years in prison this morning for a shooting in 2008.

Duwayne Dixon, 24 was found guilty earlier this year by a jury of attempted homicide, conspiracy, aggravated assault, intimidation of a witness and retaliation in a trial before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Joseph K. Williams III.

According to police, Dixon shot Andre Ripley twice in the head on Feb. 28, 2008, -- 10 days before Mr. Ripley was to testify against another man, Joshua Evans, for an earlier shooting in May 2007 in Ferguson Park where Ripley was struck, as well as a 3-month-old baby.

Ripley survived and identified the shooter as Mr. Dixon.

Evans pleaded guilty in December 2011 and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.
