Allegheny County police charged two teenage girls on Tuesday in a violent purse-snatching this weekend in Swissvale.

The girls, ages 15 and 13, were arrested after police identified them through surveillance footage.

A 62-year-old woman said she was walking near Vernon and Woodstock streets about 10:20 p.m. Saturday when the girls assaulted her and took her purse, county police said. They hit her in the head, a blow that police said "left her incapacitated."

The woman was expected to survive her injuries.

Surveillance footage captured the girls leaving and ditching the purse.

County police did not release their names because they are juveniles but said the girls will be charged with robbery, aggravated assault and conspiracy.
