It was root, root, root for volunteers who planted trees on Sunday in Wilkinsburg's Holmes Park. They did so on behalf of the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association.

Volunteers did the same thing Saturday along Schoyer Avenue in Swissvale.

These regreening efforts were among many undertaken nationwide during October, which was declared National NeighborWoods Month by Alliance for Community Trees, a national nonprofit. National NeighborWoods Month is sponsored through a grant from The Home Depot Foundation.
