A tow truck driver has been charged with homicide by vehicle after a woman died in a two-vehicle accident in Penn Hills Saturday afternoon.

Allegheny County police said Duane C. Woodson, 50, of Point Breeze was traveling south on Miltown Road when he cross over into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Christine Beilstein, 45, of Plum. Ms. Beilstein was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 9-year-old son was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and was in critical condition with a severe head injury late Saturday night.

Police said Mr. Woodson attempted to flee the scene on foot after the crash but was apprehended. He is charged with homicide by vehicle, and accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed.
