County homicide detectives and Wilkinsburg police are investigating an apparent early morning shooting there that left a couple dead in their home.
Allegheny County Police Assistant Superintendent James Morton said a male and female in their early 20s were shot in their bed sometime in the early morning hours Sunday at their residence, a duplex on 552 Princeton Blvd.
They were discovered by their roommate just before 2 p.m. this afternoon. The woman called police after returning to the residence and finding the pair dead in the second floor bedroom, Superintendent Morton said. Wilkinsburg police responded to the scene around 2 p.m.
There were no signs of a struggle and no obvious signs of forced entry, Superintendent Morton said. The door could have been left unlocked, he said.
The pair died of apparent gunshot wounds and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. Their names have not been released, pending notification of their families.
