A former supervisor at the Jeannette Post Office was indicted Wednesday for making fraudulent statements and workers compensation fraud when he claimed to have been mugged near a side entrance to the building.

Jeffrey Allen Gogets, 50, of Greensburg, arrived at the post office on April 18, tossed his wallet and his car keys, broke a glass bottle and laid on a walkway, according to the indictment. He then banged on the side door until other workers opened it. He told colleagues that he was hit, but had no memory of the incident, and that $150 was missing from his wallet.

One ambulance ride and one helicopter flight later, he was in Allegheny General Hospital, where he "deceived medical personnel in order to receive medical treatment," and was admitted for an overnight stay, the indictment said.

Mr. Gogets could not be reached for comment.
