A Point Breeze man was sentenced Thursday to five to 10 years in prison for killing a Plum woman in a car crash in May in Penn Hills.

Duane Woodson, 51, pleaded guilty in October before Judge Philip A. Ignelzi to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. He was driving a tow truck southbound on Milltown Road on May 12 when he crossed the center line.

He struck Christine Beilstein, 45, who was killed, and seriously injured her 9-year-old son.

Responding police officers said they could smell alcohol on Mr. Woodson's breath when they questioned him.
