Plum elementary school disinfected after student's MRSA diagnosis

The Plum Borough School District cleaned and disinfected Pivik Elementary School this week after district officials confirmed a student was diagnosed with a methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus infection.
Superintendent Timothy Glasspool said parents were notified of the MRSA infection and the district's response about noon on Thursday, after the cleaning Wednesday evening.
The school was open on Thursday and the infected student has been cleared to return to school, Mr. Glasspool said.
"Be aware that all the necessary precautions and protocols have been followed regarding treatment for this case and the sanitization of the building," the district posted in a statement on its website. "We will continue to take measures to ensure a clean and safe learning environment for our students."
