A Penn Hills woman on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of her boyfriend in a 2010 crash.
Lakisha Ward-Green was driving 75 mph in a 35 mph zone on Stotler Road in Penn Hills on Sept. 3 when she crashed her vehicle into a school bus.
Her boyfriend, Robert Chambers, who was in the passenger seat, died of his injuries. He was 16.
Ms. Ward-Green, who was 21 at the time of the crash, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Police had charged her with homicide by vehicle and a host of other offenses following the crash.
Ms. Ward-Green, who was driving Robert home after picking him up from school, told officers that a car pulled in front of her, causing her to swerve and hit a utility pole. Her car then bounced off the pole and slammed into a school bus driving in the other direction. No one on the bus was hurt.
Witnesses said Ms. Ward-Green had been speeding.
