A man died when he crashed into a dump truck in Armstrong County this morning.

State police said the Homer City man, whose name had not been released tonight, was driving a Toyota Solara west on Route 422 about 5:30 a.m. when he hit a deer carcass, drove into the east bound lanes and collided with the dump truck.

The car "completed two revolutions," throwing passenger Aaron Hicks, 23, onto West Mushroom Road, state police wrote in a report. Medics flew Mr. Hicks to UPMC Presbyterian with severe injuries. Neither Mr. Hicks nor the driver wore a seat belt, police said.

The dump truck driver, Kenneth Crawford Jr., 36, was not injured.
