Man killed in Penn Hills motorcycle crash identified

The man who died in a Penn Hills motorcycle crash on Monday has been identified as Matthew Nelson of Wilkins, the Allegheny county medical examiner's office said this morning.

Mr. Nelson, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, near the intersection of Old William Penn Highway and Jefferson Heights Road about 1:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

It appeared as though the crash occurred overnight and "the results were found" about 1 p.m. Monday, an emergency dispatch supervisor said.

Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.
