Officials seeking identity of man killed during Penn Hills robbery

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office is releasing more details today about the intruder killed by the Penn Hills resident whose home he and two others invaded Wednesday morning.
County officials have been working to identify the man, who was not carrying an ID and died of a stab wound to the back and had additional stab wounds on his back and neck.
His fingerprints came back negative, the medical examiner's office said today, meaning the man had no prior arrests or a job that required him to be fingerprinted.
The man is described as black, in his late teens or early 20s and between 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet tall. He was 168 pounds and had a goatee, mustache and other slight facial hair. His hair was cut short, and he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes, the medical examiner's office said.
Police are hoping family or friends will come forward to help identify the man.
Authorities were also trying to develop leads on the two other men who also followed the resident through the garage and into the house on Edinburg Drive. All three were wearing masks.
The two other intruders fled in a newer model black Chrysler 300.
Lt. Andrew Schurman of the county's homicide unit said Wednesday afternoon that police didn't have a clear motive for the invasion. County police Assistant Superintendent James Morton said it was "a unique situation" and "random as far as we know right now."
Police said the residents are cooperating and were not seriously injured. The male resident who stabbed the intruder declined to talk to a reporter Wednesday.
