The North Versailles commissioners on Thursday night revised the township's police department rule for answering domestic violence calls.

Acting police Chief James Matrazzo said under the new policy, officers must see and speak to both parties in domestic violence situations. The rule is modeled after one adopted in Pittsburgh, he said.

Chief Matrazzo said the rule change aims to prevent another tragedy like the death of Ka' Sandra Wade. Ms. Wade, 33, of Larimer, was killed on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day after two Pittsburgh police officers answered an "unknown trouble" call from her, but left without speaking to Wade after her boyfriend said nothing was wrong.
