A man was in critical condition late Friday night after he was shot in the chest in Homestead.
The man, who is in his late teens or early 20s, is a relative of Jamar Finn, 19, who died after he was shot in Homestead last week, said Homestead police Chief Jeffrey DeSimone.
Police have not yet released the name of Friday night's shooting victim. An emergency dispatch supervisor said he was taken to UPMC Mercy and also had a gunshot wound to the leg, although the chief was not able to confirm that information.
The chief said the man was walking past a door with a glass window about 10:25 p.m. when someone shot through the window and struck him.
Police do not yet know how many shooters there were, what they looked like or whether they fled on foot or in a car, the chief said about midnight. A K-9 officer was called to help track a possible trail but did not have any luck finding the shooter.
"This isn't spur of the moment," the chief said. "This is planned. This needs to stop."
He surmised that -- given the recent number of shootings -- there is likely some connection tying Friday night's shooting to one earlier in the day and to Mr. Finn's shooting. He did not provide more details.
The victim's relatives, who were at the scene, declined to talk to reporters.
