Man pleads guilty in death of toddler

A man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter Thursday in the death of an Indiana County toddler who was bruised and appeared to be malnourished.
Shawn Anderson-Holmes, 28, of Indiana, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of Colby Jozefczyk, 16 months, Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty told KDKA-TV. Mr. Anderson-Holmes faces a maximum of 10 years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 28.
Medics were called March 5 to a home on Hemlock Way in Saltsburg after the boy's mother, Kayla Lyons, called 911 to say that her son was not breathing. Mr. Anderson-Holmes had been living in the home for about five days.
When Saltsburg police Chief Gary Walker arrived, a neighbor was performing CPR on Colby, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Medics took Colby to Excela Latrobe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than a half-hour later. His 3-year-old sister also was evaluated because she appeared to be bruised.
While investigating Colby's death, state police said they developed evidence that Ms. Lyons had abused both children. She faces charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault.
