Allegheny County police this weekend charged a man in the deadly shooting of another man in Rankin's Hawkins Village housing development.

Bernard Carter, 20, of Rankin was arrested Saturday and charged with homicide in the Friday attack on William Harrington, 33, who was visiting his sister at the complex off South Braddock Avenue.

Police said Mr. Harrington was shot in the head and collapsed in the threshold of his sister's doorway near the 31 building.

A motive for the violence remained unclear this morning, Lt. Andrew Schurman said.

Mr. Carter is in the Allegheny County Jail.
