Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating after a 39-year-old man was found dead in a Monroeville motel room Friday morning.

Monroeville police responded to a room at the East Exit Motel at 4500 William Penn Highway after receiving a 911 call from a motel employee at 8:23 a.m. There they found Lamont Sidney, of Erie, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office.

County homicide Lt. Andrew Schurman said there were no signs of forced entry into the room of the single-story motel.

"We're treating it like a homicide because of some unanswered questions," he said.

The medical examiner completed an autopsy Friday afternoon but will await toxicology results before ruling on the cause and manner of death.

Monroeville police Assistant Chief Steven Pascarella said the death is suspicious "from the appearance of the room." Police called animal control to remove two dogs from the room, he said.
