An Indiana County man is heading to trial on charges he sexually assaulted his girlfriend's 6-year-old daughter last month.
Jeremy R. Allgood, 26, of Blairsville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing today on charges of corruption of minors, indecent assault and indecent exposure. Pennsylvania State Police have accused him of exposing himself and performing a lewd act involving the girl on Jan. 26.
When troopers arrived at his home that morning, they found Mr. Allgood crying in the living room. According to a state police criminal complaint, he apologized and said he didn't understand why he had done it, then told police what happened, according to the complaint.
Mr. Allgood's girlfriend told police she had seen Mr. Allgood leaning over the girl but that she was not sure what he was doing, according to the complaint. When she confronted him before police arrived, he also told her he was sorry for what he had done and that he knew it was wrong, she told police.
Mr. Allgood remains in the Indiana County Jail unable to post $25,000 bail.
