Homewood teen guilty in shooting toward officer

A Homewood teenager was convicted of attempted homicide and other charges today when a jury found him guilty of shooting at a McKeesport police officer last summer.
Dana M. Hall, 19, faces sentencing May 2 sentencing in the June 7 shooting along Highland Avenue that left the officer unharmed.
Two McKeesport police officers were called to a service garage in the 2300 block of Bowman Street about 3:40 a.m. for a report that someone had been trying to steal wheels from a car.
While one of the officers spoke with the man who called in the report, someone fired at them from nearby Highland Avenue.
Police later found three people, including Mr. Hall, hiding in a car. In the trunk was an assault rifle that police believe was used to fire at the McKeesport officer, according to a criminal complaint.
Mr. Hall's trial before Common Pleas Judge Edward Borkowski began late last month. He was convicted of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, assault of a law enforcement officer, trespass, conspiracy, theft, attempted theft and receiving stolen property.
