A Greensburg man faces attempted rape charges after police said he grabbed a woman who was walking along a trail, dragged her into a parking lot and asked her to have sex with him.
State police in Greensburg said in a news release that Anthony M. Flowers, 20, approached the woman about 1 p.m. Monday, when she was walking along the Five Star Trail in Hempfield. He asked the woman if she had a cell phone.
When she said "no," Mr. Flowers pulled her into a parking lot as she screamed, kicked and punched him, police said. After Mr. Flowers let the woman go, he asked her if she wanted to have sex with him, police said.
Mr. Flowers is currently being held in the Westmoreland County Prison on charges of attempted rape, unlawful restraint and simple assault, according to online court documents.
He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 12:45 p.m. on July 10.
