CLASSES

Greensburg -- The Academy of Music of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will sponsor a String Ensemble geared toward middle-school students who play violin, viola, cello or double bass from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road. ENTERTAINMENT

Monroeville -- The Monroeville Arts Council and UPMC East will sponsor a family variety show from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at Gateway High School, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd. Featured performers will be physical comic Howard Mincone, the East End Kids and comedian Michael Perry. FUNDRAISING

Greensburg -- The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will sponsor a Hat Luncheon at noon June 2 at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road. A champagne reception will take place at 11 a.m. Live music will be provided by the orchestra's Academy of Music students. The cost is $65, and the deadline is Friday. Registration: 724-837-1850.

Monroeville -- Monroeville Assembly of God, 4561 Old William Penn Highway, will hold its annual yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Proceeds benefit mission projects. Information: 412-856-7900.

North Huntingdon -- The Stewartsville Lions Club will sell barbecued chicken dinners from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Holiday Travel, 12239 Lincoln Highway. Cost: $7. Orders will be takeout only. Information: 412-751-4308.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Forest Hills -- The Forest Hills Lions Club will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday at the Veterans' Monument next to the municipal building, 2071 Ardmore Blvd. Refreshments will be served afterward. Information: 412-829-7888.

Irwin -- The Memorial Day committee of the Irwin/North Huntingdon VFW will hold a parade at 10 a.m. Monday beginning near Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Second and Oak streets. Information: 724-515-7550.

Monroeville -- American Legion Post 820 will hold a Memorial Day parade at 9 a.m. Monday beginning at Valley Honda on William Penn Highway proceeding along Northern Pike, to the municipal building on Monroeville Boulevard for a short service and then to the cemetery at the Old Stone Church. LIBRARIES

Monroeville -- The adult department of Monroeville Public Library, 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd., will hold "Who Decides Who Lives? A Forum on Jury Service in Capital Trials" from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Gallery Space. Information: 412-372-0500.

RECREATION

Derry Township -- The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will sponsor the following nature programs in Keystone State Park, 1150 Keystone Park Road. Registration: 724-668-2566.

TRIPS

South Greensburg -- The Westmoreland County Historial Society will sponsor a bus trip to Annapolis, Md., on June 14. Included will be a tour of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Paca House and Gardens. The cost is $129.95, $10 discount for society members, and the deadline is June 4. Buses will leave at 6 a.m. from the parking lot of Vacation Station Travel Center in Wellington Square, 1225 S.
