Greensburg -- The Academy of Music of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will sponsor a String Ensemble geared toward middle-school students who play violin, viola, cello or double bass from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road. Monroeville -- The Monroeville Arts Council and UPMC East will sponsor a family variety show from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at Gateway High School, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd. Featured performers will be physical comic Howard Mincone, the East End Kids and comedian Michael Perry. South Greensburg -- The Westmoreland County Historial Society will sponsor a bus trip to Annapolis, Md., on June 14. Included will be a tour of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Paca House and Gardens. The cost is $129.95, $10 discount for society members, and the deadline is June 4. Buses will leave at 6 a.m. from the parking lot of Vacation Station Travel Center in Wellington Square, 1225 S.
