The East Allegheny school board voted Wednesday to reject a fact-finder's recommendations on how to resolve its teacher contract.

Teacher union spokesman Butch Santicola declined to comment until the state Labor Relations Board posts the report on the Internet today, but Lindsay Bracale, spokesperson for the state Department of Labor and Industry, said the teachers accepted the fact-finder's report.

The report by Robert C. Gifford addresses the negotiations for a new contract that would begin in 2012-13.

In its motion to reject the recommendations, the board said the recommendations "do not go far enough to help the district meet the grave financial challenges to the district."

Both sides are required to vote again within 10 days.
