A reduction in the weight limit of the Kenmawr Avenue Bridge in Swissvale is forcing the Port Authority to detour four bus routes.

Spokeswoman Heather Pharo said the bridge, co-owned by Swissvale and Norfolk Southern Railway, is used by the 59 Mon Valley, 71 Edgewood Town Center, P7 McKeesport Flyer and P71 Swisshelm Park-Rankin Flyer routes. The new weight limit of 6 tons is well below the weight of buses, which is 15 to 22 tons, she said.

The detour will be in effect until further notice.
