An Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas judge deferred a bond hearing this afternoon for a Wilkinsburg man whose rape and kidnapping charges the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court reinstated this week.

The high court ruled Wednesday that David L. Bradford, 32, will face trial stemming from allegations that he abducted a woman at knifepoint and raped her in September 2008.

The district attorney's office moved to have Mr. Bradford's bond revoked before Judge Jeffrey A. Manning this afternoon, but the judge referred the matter to Judge Randal Todd because the case originated with him.

Mr. Bradford will remain out of jail at least until his next bond hearing.

Following his arrest, Mr. Bradford sat in the Allegheny County Jail for more than a year without trial because of a paperwork mishap, prompting Judge Todd to dismiss his case under a court rule that mandates a defendant be brought to trial within 365 of an arrest.

The Commonwealth appealed and the state's high court overturned Judge Todd's ruling Wednesday, reinstating the charges.
